Special Equipment/Facilities Needed: C.D.Rom
Subject Area: General Interest in theWoodstock
event in 1969.
Objectives:For those not lucky enoughto
have been there, or to be born yet, t! his c.d. will allow you to timetravel
back to Woodstock.
Brief Description: Based loosely on theAcademy
Award winning film "Woodstock" by Mike Wadleigh, this c.d. providesan intimate
escape to a time where peace was the objective and music wasuniversal.
The drugs didn't take away from the experience either apparently.
Entry Capabilities Required:I am abouta
level two computer user, and about a level one Woodstock follower. Don'tget
me wrong, the music was decent, and I am a huge fan of an outdoor party, but
the media potrayal of the event was that drugs ran rampant, and thec.d.
software showed much of the same. Did anyone just rely on alcoholto enjoy
the events of Woodstock?
Relevance to objectives: 4 The c.d softwareachieved
any objective that I set for learning about Woodstock.
Strong Points:Easy toinstall,
fun to use.
Provides practice of ! rele vant skills:3This
was not really a skill-centered piece of software.
Likely to arouse/maintain interest: 5Anyone
interested in what happened in general at Woodstock would enjoythis c.d.
Likely to be comprehended clearly:4 Ihad
little knowledge of who played at the event, and the c.d. providedme with
not only who's, but what songs were played and what the lyricswere.
Technical quality (durable, attractive):4 AsI
said, I have little computer software experience and I found this c.d.to
be technically brilliant with pics, and interviews of people ,as wellas
the music, and backstage events.
Game: Winning dependent on player actions (ratherthan
Simulation: Validity of game model (realistic, accurate
depiction):4 This c.d., being basedon a m!
ajor film, must have had a high degree of validity, and anyway s,who wanted
to hide anything about Woodstock.
Evidence of effectiveness (e.g. field-test results):N/A
Clear directions for play: 5 The directionsto
insert or install the software and use it can be followed in simplesteps
on the jacket of the c.d.
Effectiveness of debriefing 3 Besidesthe
directions on the jacket, there was little debriefing, but I don'tfeel
that this took away from the effectiveness of the Woodstock experiencethat
I got from this software.
It gave me anything and everything I wanted to know about the Woodstockexperience.
