It was decided tonight. I am now one of two editors for the Arts and Entertainment section of The Racquette for the rest of this semester. The executive board decided to have two editors because of the radically different takes on entertainment that exist on the S.U.N.Y. Potsdam campus. I am the type of person who likes to sit through coffeehouse performances at Hurley's. I like one-act plays and just plays in general. There is, however, another aspect of A&E that I have never touched while writing for that section of The Racquette: The Crane School of Music. I don't like setting foot in the place - it's almost like a different world detached from the rest of the campus community. My editing counterpart, however is a student at Crane. This means that while I continue to deal with what comes out of Hurley's, the drama department and of course the new music box of WAIH, my opposite can deal with the classical performances and musicals that come out of Crane. It seems like an arrangement that should work out nicely.
I got paid today. One paycheck for working a show at Hurley's, and two from the dinning hall. This means that I'm going to purchase software. I found a nice little shareware program that records and mixes audio with professional results called Sound Sculptor II. I plan to pay the shareware fee so I can save my files. Maybe once I get a few songs mixed, I can burn them to CD. At the very least, I can make some MP3s.
With the good today came the bad as well. I'm a little upset right now. Ironically, I can't even talk about it. So, it just sits inside me festering. Superficially, I'm upset because of some of the changes that have been happening and may be happening in my life and the lives of others. Cryptic, no? I can't say any more at this point.
I don't have to work at WMSA this coming Sunday. They gave me the day off. Sure, I won't get paid as much if I don't work, but it'll be nice to have a break. I plan on staying up until the wee hours of the morning and then sleeping until an obscene hour in the afternoon. Oh fuck - daylight savings time. I'll have one less hour this weekend. Grrr...
