For some time now, I've been hanging around Northern
New York state. John and I live in the
beautiful village of Waddington (known for its yearly Waddington Homecoming event). Waddington is right on the
St. Lawrence River. Here's a picture of a sunset that I took from our back porch. After you see it, I think that you'll understand why we decided to make our lives here. Would you like to see what we're doing *right now*?
Our local TV stations are WNPE (PBS),
WWNY (CBS) and WWTI (ABC) in Watertown.
(Thank heaven for digital cable!)
The North Country is centrally isolated
(as we like to say).
It's about 2 hours from everywhere: Ottawa,
Lake Placid, the Adirondacks.
You get the picture....
I'm originally from Ohio. More specifically, I've spent most of my life in and around Cleveland. I grew up in Lorain County, which is west of Cleveland, and graduated from Elyria Catholic High School in 1983. I received my BA in psychology from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea and did my graduate work in Social Psychology at Case Western Reserve University.
There's a lot to love about Cleveland. The Cleveland radio station that raised a generation of rockers is the Buzzard -- WMMS 100.7. WMMS was a major factor in Cleveland's having the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. You might also want to take a look at the Steamship William G. Mather Museum or the world-renowned Cleveland Museum of Art. In nearby Sandusky, you can visit Cedar Point, one of the best amusement parks around.
Lately, I keep up with the Cleveland-area news via the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which is my hometown newspaper and the website for WEWS News Channel 5. I also like to listen to WTAM 1100 am at night when the atmospheric conditions allow. You ought to give it a try -- they claim to reach 38 states and half of Canada!
Finally, you can't be from Cleveland without mentioning the various Cleveland sports teams. So, here is a link to the Akron Beacon Journal for information about all of Cleveland's sports teams. As you might expect, I'm a big fan of the Cleveland baseball team, although I can't say as I care for their name or mascot. Sigh. And, of course, I'm also a fan of the Cleveland Browns.
