DESCRIPTION / DIRECTIONS: The Silas Wright House (now a museum) is the 19th century home of Silas Wright, statesman and former governor of New York (1844-46). The house itself is a white Greek revival structure with a white picket fence in front and a large red barn addition recently attached behind, which serves as the home of the St. Lawrence Country Historical Association. The complex is across from the village park, near the stoplight by the post office and movie theater. SOAR courses are held in the County Gallery in the Red Barn Addition to the Silas Wright House. Entrance to the building is off the parking lot at the rear. The County Gallery is on the first floor near the entrance.

PARKING: Large free parking area at the rear of the house and barn complex. Enter from Main Street (at the left side of the house), or turn east onto Court Street at the stop light, then right into the Canton Savings and Loan bank building parking lot; drive through the lot and park behind the Red Barn Addition or nearby. Free parking is also available around the far edges of the village park

ACCESSIBILITY: a ramp leads up to the doorway. There is an elevator to the second floor where the county archives and second floor exhibit areas are located.
