  1. One-page resume which includes the following information:

a)     G.P.A., and class standing

b)     Previous experience doing research

c)     College coursework related to this research (Biology, Computer Sciences, Math, Statistics, Photography, etc).

d)     Other special skills you would bring to the research (such as: computer programs, ability to build models, and photography skills)

e)     Your contact information (phone number and email)

  1. College Transcript (unofficial copy).
  2. Phone number and email of two college professors who know you well and can be contacted to speak on your behalf.
  3. Writing sample which shows your ability to use the scientific literature, graphs, statistics, and writing skills.  Examples include: a previous laboratory report or a research paper in which you demonstrate your ability to synthesize scientific material and think creatively.
  4. Essay of approximately two pages (double-spaced) in which you discuss:

a)     Why you would be an excellent candidate for this summer position

b)     Future plans for graduate school and career

c)     An example of how you work well with a team

d)     A specific example demonstrating your perseverance in finishing a project

 

Students accepted for the program must be U.S. citizens who have not yet finished their undergraduate degree.
