RUSH

So what is this big word RUSH ?

Basically rush is a period of several weeks where all the fraternitys and sororities on a given campus hold open events in order to promote membership in their organization and also to generally have a good time. Prometheus like any other fraternity knows that the rush period is important to the survival of the organization and therefore we make an effort to have many service and social events in this period to promote ourselves.

Why should i think about RUSH?

College is a awsome intially but what makes life really worth living is to sometimes go outside your element, its a time to try out and experience new things to see all that life has to offer. One of those things which is only available for this short time in your life is the chance join a fraternity what do you have to loose a few evenings in front of the IM screen. Skrew that, get out of your dull little dorm and do something new - hell you might have some fun.

What is pledging?

Pledging comes after rush. If you like what you have seen during rush and want to get in on this action its the next step. You fill out a form with the school that we provide and if you are cleared by us and the school your golden. More information on this will be given out at the semesterly smoker event. If you don't wanna pledge hey no hard feelings you can still hang out we are generally pretty understanding if its not your thing. Its a pretty crappy fraternity that only has friends within the house.

What the requirements to pledge?

1.You must be a college student at one of the four associated colleges SUNY potsdam, Clarkson University, SUNY canton, or St. Lawerence University.

2.You must have a overal GPA of at least 2.0 (this is not our rule but the schools) transfers may have different rules.

3. If you are a SUNY potsdam student you must have at least 2nd semester freshman standing (again not our rule but the schools)

What is the pledge program?

Well people don't just join prometheus and get letters passed to them that would one of the so called "T-shirt clubs" which rarely have any form of brotherhood or trust. It is our firm theory that you need to earn your letters and for this we have the pledge program which, is a period of time in which we as a brotherhood impart on the neophytes our form of brotherhood.

What is Hazing and do we do it ?

Hazing refers basically to the abuse that a lot of houses put people though in order to supposedly "initiate" them into the brotherhood. We do not haze and we take that statement very seriously.

Why the heck do i keep hearing the words "big" and "little" around you guys?

When pledging starts every pledge is assigned a brother to guide them though pledging. This brother is responsible for the "little" as it were and making sure they complete their tasks and are properly socialized. Often even after pledging a strong friendship remains between the two and the words big and little are used out of respect for the effort both put into pledging.
