Pledged: Spring 1987
Hometown: Fairport, NY
Where do I
currently reside: Conway, AR
What I am doing currently:
It looks like I've pretty well planted my roots here. After living in
Illinois and Wisconsin, I have now taught since 1999 as the Horn
Professor at the University of Central Arkansas. I also play in the
Arkansas Symphony, Conway Symphony, Pine Bluff Symphony, and Pinnacle
Brass. In summer of 2008 I toured Arkansas, Austria and China
performing with Pinnacle Brass and as a guest principal in Chinese
orchestras. Summers I work at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan.
Married to wife and fellow musician Terrie since 1992, and our
daughters are Rebecca (1998) and Rachel (2001). I have been fortunate
to serve variously as Province Governor and Deputy PG of Province 4
since 2002. I plan to graduate from the University of Illinois with my
DMA in Horn Performance and Literature, with minor in Music Education,
in December 2008.
Memorable stories
from my times at Theta Iota: My
memories include collecting cans for deposit money; my first glimpse of
the Crane basement during ritual; all of us scheduling our Star Lake
experience together an listening to Glenn Roberts belch the Guiness
World's Record for longest and ugliest; great times in the end lounge
of Knowles with Matt Sherrill; endless games of euchre disturbing my
studying; meeting Dr. Frackenpohl thanks to a brother, which turned
into a long-term friendship AND source of income as a part-writer;
listening to a very teary-eyed Frank Leavitt singing Danny Boy to Helen
Hosmer outside her house; learning to change my Pontiac's oil from
"Unibrow" (M. Cordaro)
