Pledged: Spring 1981
Hometown: Lexington, MA
Where do I
currently reside: Germantown, MD
What I am doing currently:
Married to the very beautiful Nancy (nee Weidler) for 19 years,
and we have two kids, Elena (age 17 - H.S. senior, wants to be a
physical therapist) and Steven (13).
I spent about 15 yrs. outside the music ed field,
mostly in the field of telecommunication. Earned a master's degree in
telecom from GWU, Dec.1997. When telecom world went bust, c.2001-2, I
came back to music ed and have been teaching elem. general music for
past 6 yrs.
I "sit in" as cantor on occasion at our local Reform
Jewish congregation (Cong. Or Chadash, Damascus MD), conduct the
teen/adult choir, and taught for 11 yrs. in the religious school.
Recently, last December, I produced, rehearsed and directed a "Judas
Maccabeus Sing" (G.F. Handel), complete with chorus/audience,
full orchestra and soloists.
Memorable stories
from my times at Theta Iota: It
was a "building" situation. Faculty Advisor was Dr. Alan Woy
(clarinet). When I joined, the chapter was quite small -- a real "fixer
upper" if you will. By the time that I graduated 2 yrs. later, it had
grown substantially.
Looking back on my time at SUNY-Potsdam/Crane and in PMA/TI, the
biggest benefit of membership was the ability to gain more experience
performing (major instrument = Trombone) and conducting.
