RESPONSES to PUZZLE #6
Many
got close to this, but did not finish.
Some
did, and congrats go out to them!
If
you are still working on it a few observations might help?
First
notice that when you put 1oz. spoonful of milk in the 10oz. cup of coffee you
have a ratio of 10 parts to 1 part which is 11oz. total, so 10/11th
is coffee and 1/11th is milk.
Then
if you mix it up and take a 1oz spoonful of this mixture you still have the
same ratio, right?
So
what fraction of this 1oz. spoonful is milk and what fraction is coffee?
Now
add this to the 9oz. of milk and compute the exact amount of milk and coffee.
What
is the ratio of the results?
Surprise!
