PUZZLE #26 Lists Apr. 9
– Apr. 13
Joe was
adding up some numbers when he noticed that there were 8 numbers, all were odd
numbers with some repeats, and they totaled 20. He started thinking about how many ways he could add 8 odd
numbers to get 20, ignoring changes in order of course (for example 1 +2 = 2 +1).
For
example, one way is 13 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 = 20.
He
came up with 8 ways to do it, but when Sue saw what he was doing she said
< there are more then 8 ways to do that > .
Is
she right? How many ways can you add 8 odd numbers to get 20 if you ignore
changes in order?
