PUZZLE #24(Rev.)
Fastest car? Mar. 26
– Mar. 30
Two
brothers named Billy and Bob were are always competing with each other. They both
had the same brand of car, same make and model, and they were always racing
each other, but their cars were evenly matched and neither could win every
race.
One
day Billy had a bright idea and he proposed a race.
They
lived in a little town called Old Town at the base of a mountain called Old
Baldy which had a town 10 miles away from Old Town up on top called Fairview.
In the other direction and at exactly the same distance of 10 miles away on a
flat level road was a town called Mountainview.
Billy
bet Bob that he could drive to Mountainview and back before Bob could get to
Fairview and back.
Bob
took the bet & thought to himself,
HA, I will win this
one because even though it will be a slow
climb up to Fairview I can
come down that mountain at a
breakneck speed before
Billy gets back from Mountainview.
If
Bob could only travel uphill to Fairview at 50mph maximum, but could come down
at 70 mph maximum, and Billy averaged 60 mph going to Mountainview, who won the
race??
