Time for MATH MINUTE! (provide your favorite theme music here).

Get out your paper & pencil, because I have a new puzzle for you!!

PUZZLE #6   More milk or coffee?    Oct. 16-20

This is a classic puzzle which can be solved in

several ways - by careful analysis.

So put on your thinking caps.

Suppose you have a cup containing 10oz. of coffee,

and your friend has a cup containing 10oz. of milk.

You take a 1oz. spoon and put one spoonful of

their milk in your cup of coffee, mix it up good, and

then take one spoonful of your milk & coffee mixture

and put it in their cup of milk and mix that up.

Now, does your cup of coffee have more, the

same, or less of their milk than their cup of milk has

of your coffee?

In general can you work the same problem for any

size cups and any size spoon, within reason, and get

the same answer?

       Have fun!
