Effectiveness of the P.A.R.T.Y. Program
The P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth) program is a one-day program designed to teach young people age 15 and older to recognize injury risks and to make informed decisions to reduce those risks.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the P.A.R.T.Y. program, 1,281 participants were matched with the same number of controls on the basis of age, gender, area of residence. Trauma was determined by searching a provincial hospital discharge database and provincial health claims.
Data analysis demonstated that the P.A.R.T.Y. program significantly reduced the incidence of traumatic injuries among those who participated in it.
