Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students Funded
Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received a $10,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to implement the Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) program. It is an evidence based nationally recognized program to reduce high-risk alcohol use among college students.
The BASICS program involves conducting screening students’ alcohol use and providing brief interventions. It is one of the very few alcohol abuse prevention programs ever to have proven effective.
Seven Greek chapters have volunteered to participate in the BASICS program.
