Cholesterol Levels Better for Moderate Drinkers
Dutch researchers have found better high-density lipoprotein (HDL) profiles among nonsmoking men and women who consumed at least 100 grams of alcohol (about 7 drinks) per week compared to nonsmoking abstainers. The 130 men and 145 women averaged 32 years of age.
Drinking in moderation appears to have a positive affect while smoking appears to have a negative affect on HDL levels.
