Colorado Drops Blue Law Prohibition Against Sunday Liquor Sales
Colorado has become the 35th state to repeal its anachronistic Blue law restriction against selling liquor on Sundays. Consumers will now be able to shop in liquor stores on the second busiest shopping day of the week.
In dropping this Puritan Colonial-era relic, Colorado has become the 13th state since 2002 to modernize its alcohol law in this way. Fifteen states still cling to their archaic blue laws that inconvenience consumers, restrict their choices, and limit their equal access to products.
Blue laws were passed to impose and enforce certain religious beliefs about acceptable behaviors on the entire population.
