Faculty Wants Fewer Alcohol Arrests

Faculty leaders at the University of Iowa have called for reduced illegal drinking without resorting to having students arrested.

Having an arrest record can make it difficult for students to get into graduate school. The faculty also point out that convictions will follow and stigmatize students for the rest of their lives.

The incidence of underage drinking at the school is comparable to that at similar colleges.
