Blue Laws

Blue laws have prohibited numerous activities on Sundays - kissing, travelling unncecssarily, playing baseball, buying groceries, playing cards, deancing, buying alcohol beverages. and many more. Today, however, blue laws almost exclusively target buying alcohol.

New York recently became the 26the state to repeal its archaic law against buying alcohol on the Christian sabbath. Those states that still have such prohibition are now in the minority.
