A magistrate told a 20-year-old Detroit man convicted of drunk driving that he should kill himself.
Scare Students out of Drinking and Driving with a Hoax?
A California school district tried to scare students out of drinking and driving by making them believe that their classmates had been killed while drinking and driving. Although the hoax angered students and parents the school defended its action saying that it wanted students to experience real grief and be traumatized in an effort to prevent drinking and driving.
U.S. Army Promotes Personal Alcohol Breath Testers
US Army is distributing personal alcohol breath testers to soldiers and civilians to reduce drunken driving at Fort Jackson (SC), Fort Benning (GA), Fort Lee (VA), Aberdeen Proving Ground (MD), Fort Greene (AK), Fort Sam Houston (TX), Corpus Christie Army Depot (TX) and Fort Dix (NJ).

Drunken driving fatalities in U.S. drop over 1/3 between 1982 and 2006. This large drop occurred in spite of dramatic increases during the same period in the number of vehicle miles traveled, registered motor vehicles on the road, licensed drivers, and population of the country.

A proposed law would ban lawyers in Tennessee from advertising their expertise in drunken driving cases. The sponsor believes that the law would make it easier to convict citizens accused of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Maximum legal BAC of .02 has been proposed for Massachusetts by state senator James Fagan. The lower blood alcohol concentration or content level would effectively prohibit driving after consuming any alcoholic beverage.
