“You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” is Misleading and Intimidating Message
“I've been seeing many billboards lately promoting the "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" campaign,” writes a driver. He observes that “ while I believe the intent to be straightforward, I believe the message the billboards are saying is, you drink, you drive, and you go to jail.”
He correctly points out that “it is not illegal to have a cocktail and operate a motor vehicle. It is, however, illegal to operate any kind of motor vehicle on public streets and highways while intoxicated and exceeding the community's set alcohol/blood levels.”
Because of this, he considers the “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” message to be “misleading and intimidating.”
