Alcohol Breath Testers Challenged

The Intoxilyzer 5000 breath tester used by law enforcement officers for estimating blood alcohol content (BAC) has come under fire in Georgia.

Cases have been won in several Georgia counties by defendants successfully charging that the breath tester is biased against women.

The State of Georgia and the manufacturer of the device content that it is accurate when used to test the breath of female subjects.
