STUDENT DRINKING DOWN IN VERMONT

Vermont's governor and its health commissioner have jointly announced that alcohol consumption among the state's students is down 7% in the last two years. The survey, conducted every two years since 1985, was administered this year to almost 30,000 students at 141 schools across the state.

The study also found that the proportion of abstainers has increased steadily since 1995.
