Directions to SUNY Potsdam

By car, from Interstate 81 (Western New York/Syracuse areas)
Just north of Watertown from Interstate 81, take Exit 48 for Route 342 East. Travel approximately 6 miles east on Route 342 until the junction of Route 11. Turn left onto Route 11 North. Follow Route 11 North for approximately 64 miles until reaching the town of Potsdam. Once in the village, turn right onto 56 South. Route 56 turns into Pierrepont Avenue. From Pierrepont Avenue turn left onto Barrington Drive. For Snell Theater, turn left onto Lake Placid Drive. Snell is on your right. For Hosmer Hall, go through three stop signs and turn left into the last parking lot before leaving campus. Hosmer Hall is straight ahead.

By car, from Interstate 87/The Northway (Albany and New York City areas)
From all points south of Albany, travel I87 North/Thruway. Take Exit 24 through the tollbooth in Albany and continue north on I87/The Adirondack Northway for almost 60 miles. Take Exit 23 heading towards Route 9/Warrensburg. From exit ramp, turn left onto County Route 35 West. After approximately 3/10 of a mile, turn right onto Route 9 traveling northwest. Travel 4 miles until Route 28 North intersects with Route 9. Bear left at the fork onto Route 28 North. Follow Route 28 North for approximately 44 miles until Blue Mountain Lake. You will notice that Route 28 North and Route 30 North are the same road from Indian Lake to Blue Mountain Lake. Once in Blue Mountain Lake, you will turn right onto Route 30 North. After traveling about 34 miles, you will enter the town of Tupper Lake. It is here you will pick up Route 3 by turning left. Traveling mainly west, follow signs for Potsdam. Follow Route 3 for 12 miles. At Sevey’s Corners turn right onto Route 56 North. Take Route 56 approximately 33 miles until the College comes into view on your right. Turn right onto Barrington Drive. For Snell Theater, turn left onto Lake Placid Drive. Snell is on your right. For Hosmer Hall, go through three stop signs and turn left into the last parking lot before leaving campus. Hosmer Hall is straight ahead.

By car, from Interstate 87/The Northway (Plattsburgh area)
Depending on your approach from I87, take Exit 37 or 38 to Route 374 West. Route 374 West will turn into Route 374 North. Follow Route 374 approximately 30 miles. Make a left onto County Route 24/Brainardsville Road in Brainardsville, NY. Follow County Route 24/Brainardsville Road about 11.5 miles until it intersects Route 11 just east of Malone, NY. Turn left on Route 11 Southwest. Stay on Route 11 for 44 miles until your reach Potsdam. Once in the village, make a left onto Park Street, following signs for Route 56 South. Bear slightly left onto Route 56 South. Route 56 turns into Pierrepont Avenue. From Pierrepont Avenue turn left onto Barrington Drive. For Snell Theater, turn left onto Lake Placid Drive. Snell is on your right. For Hosmer Hall, go through three stop signs and turn left into the last parking lot before leaving campus. Hosmer Hall is straight ahead.

By car, from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Head west out of Ottawa on 417/The Queensway. From 417, take Highway 416 South towards Cardinal. You will be on 416 approximately 46 miles. Continue onto Highway 16 and then turn right onto Highway 2. Turn left off of Highway 2 to cross the international bridge. Once in New York, bear right onto Route 812 South. Route 812 and Route 37 are the same for a few miles. You will be on Route 812 about 4 miles. From 812, turn left on Route 68. Travel Route 68 for 17 miles until reaching Canton, NY. Here you will bear left onto Route 11. Follow Route 11 for 11 miles into Potsdam. Once in the village, turn right onto 56 South. Route 56 turns into Pierrepont Avenue. From Pierrepont Avenue turn left onto Barrington Drive. For Snell Theater, turn left onto Lake Placid Drive. Snell is on your right. For Hosmer Hall, go through three stop signs and turn left into the last parking lot before leaving campus. Hosmer Hall is straight ahead.

By car, from Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Head south out of Montreal on Autoroute 720. Continue south onto Autoroute/Highway 20 for 42 miles. Merge onto Highway 401 Southwest. Stay on 401 for 24 miles heading towards Cornwall. Once in Cornwall, turn left onto Highway 138 South. Cross over the international bridge. Now you are in New York State on Route 45. Continue on 45 following signs for Route 37 West. Bear right onto Route 37 West. Follow Route 37 through Massena. Turn left onto Route 56 South. Travel Route 56 for approximately 20 miles into the town of Potsdam. Route 56 turns into Pierrepont Avenue. From Pierrepont Avenue turn left onto Barrington Drive. For Snell Theater, turn left onto Lake Placid Drive. Snell is on your right. For Hosmer Hall, go through three stop signs and turn left into the last parking lot before leaving campus. Hosmer Hall is straight ahead.
