Medical Amnesty in New Jersey for Underage Drinkers Needing or Seeking Help

Minors and adults under the age of 21 who summon medical assistance for intoxicated persons would be immune from prosecution in New Jersey, as would the underage person needing medical assistance, if the state passes proposed legislation.

The legislation's sponsor, Assembly member Mary Pat Angelini said the legislation is designed to protect and preserve lives. It doesn't condone underage drinking. The bill's purpose is to remove barriers that discourage underage persons from seeking medical help for other underage persons who need it.
