Drinking Alcohol and Dementia

A systematic review of prospective studies was conducted to examine the relationship between alcohol consumption and dementia and cognitive decline. It included meta-analyses of 15 studies with follow-ups ranging from two to eight years.

The results indicated that alcohol drinkers in later life have reduced risk of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
