Arkansas Repeals Blue Law Banning Liquor Sales at Package Stores on Sundays

Arkansas has become the 36th state to repeal its prohibition-era Blue Law prohibiting package stores from selling alcoholic beverages on Sundays.

The new law gives communities the option (local option) to vote on permitting package stores to open on Sunday. It also permits restaurants and other retailers to serve alcohol on Sundays between 10:00 a.m. and midnight.

Proponents argued, among other things, that Sunday is the second-busiest shopping day of the week.
