Marin Institute to Focus 100% Against Alcohol Industry

The Marin Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Other Drug Problems has announced in it’s newsletter, Big Alcohol Watch, that “countering the alcohol industry has always been a high priority for the Marin Institute, but we now want to make it the central focus of our efforts. That means that we’ll put 100 percent of our energy into stopping the alcohol industry from harming public health….”

The Marin Institute has long promoted the Reduction of Consumption approach to alcohol, according to which “less alcohol is always too much alcohol.” The goal of Marin long been to reduce the availability and consumption of alcoholic beverages in American society. One of its major strategies is to stigmatize alcohol and marginalize adults of legal drinking age who choose to drink.

Marin has been recognized for its temperance activities by the Prohibition Party.
