MADD's Hometown Stays Dry

Irving, Texas, the home of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) soundly defeated a proposal on the ballot to permit alcohol. The vote against permitting the sale of beer and wine was 63% or almost two of every three voters.

The majority of similar proposals passed elsewhere in Texas, but not in MADD's hometown. In some case, residents approved alcohol sales by over nine-to-one.
