US ADULTS UNAWARE OF EQUIVALENCE
A majority of Americans aged 21 and older don't know that standard servings of beer, wine and distilled spirits all contain the same amount of alcohol.
The survey, conducted by International Communication Research, also found that fewer than 1 in 20 adults are aware that the US Dietary Guidelines state that moderate drinking is associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease or that it applies to beer and distilled spirits as well as to wine.
Standard Drinks graphically illustrates information on the equivalence of standard drinks of beer, wine and distilled spirits or liquor. Its accuracy has been established by medical and other health professionals.
