ALCOHOL AVAILABILITY UP, CONSUMPTION DOWN

The number of liquor stores in New Zealand has almost doubled over the past ten years, alcohol advertising has been legalized, the minimum purchase age has been reduced from 20 to 18, and beer is now sold in grocery stores. During the same period of increased availability, the consumption of alcohol has gone down.
