Myth/Facts of HIV and AIDS

The original 11 x 17 posters exploring the myths and realities of HIV and AIDS were designed by Suzanne Lebeda, Coordinator of Publications at SUNY Potsdam. In 2001 they were updated and modified by Megan Kavanagh. The posters were originally created on PageMaker 4.2 and sequentially imported to PageMaker 6.0 for conversion to PDF files. The thumbnails below present the ten-poster collection. The links to the left of each poster will download a PDF file which may be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader and then printed. Scaling to 60 - 64 percent will allow you to print on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. The original series was printed at full size on a variety of "ultra" colored stock.
At the bottom of each poster the following information appears:
SUNY Potsdam has a campus AIDS policy designed to apply to everyone who is a member of the College community. This policy protects confidentiality, supports nondiscrimination toward anyone who may be HIV infected and provides for access to support services if someone who is HIV infected requests them.

MYTH: HIV infection means you have AIDS.

FACT: HIV infection DOES NOT mean you have AIDS. HIV infection means you have been exposed to the virus. AIDS is the disease which you may develop several years after being infected with the HIV virus.
